Outdoor Recreation
Spring through fall, visitors can picnic along the abundance of trees in the beautiful public parks and bike the nature trails at Barfield Crescent Park. Several public boat launches such as J. Percy Priest Lake and Long Hunter State Park are the gateways to some of the best catfish, crappie and bass fishing.
Festivals
In Rutherford County, we love any reason to party. In May, JazzFest celebrates the smooth sounds of jazz on the Murfreesboro Downtown Square. In June, the International Folk Festival highlights culture with music, art and food. The Uncle Dave Macon Days Festival is a Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 event. This three-day festival brings entertainers, food vendors and artists from across the United States and world for an event like no other. Rutherford County offers visitors an opportunity for a great experience year round.
Other Story Ideas
Rutherford County has some of the finest dining in Tennessee. To say food is “great,” “wonderful” and “delightful” shortchange the real taste explosions set off by such local restaurants as Five Senses, Demos’, Miller’s Grocery, Kleer-Vu Lunchroom, Toot’s and Hickory Falls, just to name a few. If you’ve never had hot water cornbread, fried dill pickle chips or corn nuggets, these culinary treats are worth a visit to the area by themselves.
