More than 300 physicians and 100 dentists practice in Rutherford County, with highly qualified general practitioners and specialists in virtually every area of health care available.

 

Middle Tennessee Medical Center (MTMC), in Murfreesboro, has more than 288 beds and is affiliated with Baptist and Saint Thomas Hospitals in Nashville.

MTMC is the largest, most comprehensive hospital in the corridor bridging Nashville and Chattanooga. The hospital offers a wide array of specialized services and continues to grow, recently opening a comprehensive cancer center and new ambulatory surgery and diagnostic center.

StoneCrest Medical Center, Part of HCA’s TriStar Health System, is a 101 bed facility located in Smyrna. Patient care, safety and satisfaction is a primary focus, which has resulted in StoneCrest being named “One of the Nation's 100 Top Hospitals by Thomson Reuters.”

The emergency department treated a record number of patients in 2009, yet continues to maintain an average wait time less than half the national average. More than 300 physicians are on staff, many with offices a short walking distance from the facility. The Sarah Cannon Cancer Center at StoneCrest provides a full range of services for preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. The cancer program at StoneCrest is one of only 20 nationwide that received the 2008 Commission on Cancer New Program Outstanding Achievement Award.
