Mission: To develop and maintain a comprehensive business retention and expansion program that provides the information and resources necessary to facilitate existing companies to thrive.
Existing Industry Council
The Existing Industry Council meets quarterly to discuss industry-related topics and to facilitate networking opportunities among the existing industries in Rutherford County. Past topics of discussion have included gang awareness in the workplace, the Employee Free Choice Act and the Incumbent Worker Training Program.
In addition to quarterly meetings, support visits are scheduled with existing industries for the purpose of better understanding their business and offering assistance with expansions, available incentives/grants and general information requests.
In 2009, the Existing Industry Council coordinated the 11th Annual Industry Appreciation Golf Tournament sponsored by Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation, Murfreesboro Electric Department and Tennessee Valley Authority. The event drew over 130 local industry representatives.
The Existing Industry Council also coordinated the 2nd Annual Industry Appreciation Tailgate in conjunction with MTSU Athletics and ATMOS Energy. Local industry employees, along with their families, were invited to a tailgate and an MTSU football game. Over 600 people attended the day’s events.
