Chamber Adds Vice President of Workforce Development

The Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce has announced that Sandy Ponder will assume the role of vice president of workforce development effective April 2.
This new position was created through funding from Destination Rutherford, a Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce program designed to attract more high-paying jobs and help grow existing businesses in Rutherford County. In this role, Ponder will be responsible for developing and planning a regional workforce development strategy that will support the Chamber’s overall economic development efforts and make Rutherford County more competitive for future projects.

“Sandy’s combination of economic development, project management and marketing experience made her a perfect fit for this position,” said Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce President Paul Latture. “We look forward to great things from her, and are excited that she is joining our team.”
Ponder has served as the executive director of Mind2Marketplace for the past three and a half years. Prior to that, she served in project management positions for the Georgia Agriculture Innovation Center and State of Georgia Department of Economic Development. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia and the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute, a founding member of RutherfordCABLE, and serves on the Tennessee Valley Corridor Foundation Board.
Since its inception in 2002, Destination Rutherford has been the county leader in economic development, and continues to focus on increased tourism and new business attraction, retention and expansion, while assessing the county’s current and future workforce needs.
The Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce seeks to promote economic development and a quality of life to benefit all residents of Rutherford County. Programs, events and services are offered to both members and non-members. The Chamber operates out of a main office on Medical Center Parkway in Murfreesboro, and branch offices in Smyrna and La Vergne.
